Striking the Balance: Subtle Edits to Bold Transformations

For my boudoir, fashion and beauty shoots, I do a lot of retouching to help to enhance the photographs. My usual editing process does vary depending on the shoot. I typically make visual changes to the photograph to brighten and tone the environment and flatter my model. Where possible, I fix aspects such as chipped nail polish or rogue plug sockets in the background. With retouching, I usually focus on smoothing skin, removing spots or blemishes. I am a believer in natural beauty, and I want to show my models in the best light.

When it comes to editing, I do prefer minimal retouching as I like to keep my clients looking beautiful as they are. However, I do get requests asking for additional retouching services, including reshaping the body beyond what I usually do.

Before & Afters

In this blog, I want to showcase examples of retouching requests and my abilities to accommodate this (where requested only) in my photographs.

My model is Leahandrai Mckimmie, who got in touch requesting a shoot with a bold transformation in her final photographs.

Summary

My approach to editing is all about enhancing what’s naturally beautiful while maintaining authenticity. I believe that less is more when it comes to retouching, allowing my clients to see themselves in the best light without unnecessary alterations. However, I understand that everyone has different preferences, and I’m always happy to accommodate specific requests to ensure my clients feel confident and satisfied with the final result. Ultimately, my goal is to strike the perfect balance between natural beauty and polished, professional imagery that reflects each person’s unique essence.
