Tips for Posing for your Lingerie Shoot

Lingerie shoots can be a fun and empowering way to celebrate your body and feel confident in your own skin. However, the thought of posing in lingerie can be daunting for many women. To help you feel more comfortable and confident during your lingerie shoot, here's some tips on how to pose like a pro.

Try different poses

Experimenting with different poses can help you find the ones that work best for you. You can use resources such as Pinterest or even TikTok to explore posing inspiration. Here are some classic ideas I love to work with:

Standing Up

When posing standing up, try crossing one leg in front of the other to create an elongated, flattering silhouette. You can also try putting your hands on your hips or in your pockets for a relaxed, confident look. Experiment with angles by tilting your head or turning your body slightly to the side.

Back to the Wall

When posing with your back against the wall, try leaning back slightly to create a curve in your back. You can also try putting one foot in front of the other and angling your body to one side. Use your hands to create different shapes and angles, such as putting one hand on your hip or running your fingers through your hair.

On the Bed

When posing on the bed, try lying on your side and propping yourself up on your elbow. This creates a relaxed, comfortable look while still showing off your curves. You can also try lying on your back with your arms above your head or crossed over your chest. Experiment with different leg positions, such as crossing one leg over the other or bending one knee.

Your photographer can also come above you or stand on a chair. You can lay on your back and create some angles with your body, looking into the lens.

Legs in the Air

When posing with your legs in the air, try lying on your back with your legs straight up in the air. This can create a playful, flirty look. You can also try crossing your legs at the ankle and bending them slightly to create a more relaxed pose. Use your hands to create different shapes and angles, such as placing one hand on your thigh or running your fingers through your hair.

High Heels

When posing in close-ups of high heels, try standing up with one foot forward and the other foot slightly back. This creates a dynamic angle that shows off the curve of your leg and the height of your heels. You can also try sitting down with your legs crossed and your high heels pointed towards the camera.

Lingerie

When posing in close-ups of lingerie, try lying down with your legs slightly bent and your back arched. This creates a flattering angle that shows off the curves of your body and the details of your lingerie. You can also try standing up and using your hands to draw attention to specific parts of your lingerie, such as the lace or the straps.

Hands

When posing in close-ups that focus on your hands, try using your fingers to create interesting shapes and angles. You can also try placing your hands on different parts of your body, such as your hips or your shoulders, to create a flattering curve. Experiment with different poses and angles to find the ones that work best for you.

Face

When posing in close-ups of your face, try angling your head slightly to one side or the other. This creates a more dynamic look and helps to highlight your features. You can also try using your hands to frame your face or create interesting shadows.

Play with your hair

If you have long hair, throwing this over your face creates a playful look which can help to tease the camera. Consider framing your hair around your face, messing this up or completely throwing it towards the camera for more of a candid look.

Other tips I'd recommend:

Choose a female photographer you feel comfortable with

It’s important to choose a photographer who you feel comfortable with, especially when it comes to lingerie shoots. A female photographer can make you feel more at ease and can understand your needs better. This can help you feel more relaxed and confident in front of the camera.

Consider the setting

The setting of your shoot can also make a big difference in how you feel and how your photos turn out. Consider choosing a muted coloured bedroom and sheets so that the focus is on you as the model. Having available natural light can also create a more classic and tasteful vibe.

Know your good sides

I'd recommend communicating with your photographer about the parts of your body that you want to emphasise. You can also let them know about any angles that you feel may not be your best. This can help you feel more confident during the shoot and ensure that you get the best possible photos.

Feeling comfortable

On the day of your shoot, wear comfortable clothing such as leggings and a jumper, or a tracksuit to avoid any clothing marks on your body prior to the shoot. Bring a dressing gown if this will make you feel more at ease when settling into a new location. Choose hair and makeup that makes you feel beautiful - and this will make all the difference.

Embrace yourself

Remember that this is a fun and empowering experience. You should embrace yourself and your body to feel confident and empowered during your lingerie shoot. Consider practising posing in front of a mirror or taking some shots on your phone to get into the groove before the shoot.

A lingerie shoot can be a great way to feel confident and empowered. By choosing the right photographer, experimenting with different poses, and communicating your needs, you can make the most of this experience. Embrace yourself, have fun, and treasure the images that you create.
